Why We Exist

The medical system is its own world.

Not only do you need to learn a completely different culture, but you are asked to do so on top of everything else you are already doing. No one plans when illness will occur. The additive effect of illness, the associated stress, and the complexities of the system can be a lot to handle at once.

This combination of stressors can be difficult to juggle even for the most educated, capable, and professionally accomplished people. The complexity of modern medicine is not a personal failing. It is a structural reality. Most families navigate this terrain alone, with whatever orientation they can patch together from web searches and the brief moments they have with their care team.

What We Believe

Two principles shape how we work.

We build your capacity, not your dependency. Our work is structured to leave you more capable of navigating medical care than when we started, not more reliant on us. If a year from now you need us less, that is the work done well.

Conversations about your care happen with you. We only speak with your care team when you or your representative are present. Your care is yours, and you deserve to be part of the conversations that shape it.

These principles are not legal disclaimers. They are the substance of what Doc Envoy is. We work this way on purpose.

What Doc Envoy provides.

Translation

Medical language, results, and records made legible. What was said, what it means, and what to do next.

Orientation

How the system actually works. What is coming next, what to ask, where it is reasonable to push back.

Synthesis

Multiple care teams, multiple voices, held as one coherent picture so nothing important falls through.

Capacity

Each engagement leaves you more capable of navigating medical care, not more reliant on us.

Where ease is everything.

Our Promise

Medicine, translated into humanity.

We translate, synthesize, and help you participate in your own care with more clarity. Every summary we create, every question we help you prepare, every conversation where we sit beside you is guided by one goal: helping you understand your care fully enough to participate in it with confidence.

We support your relationship with your care team. We do not replace them. The work of navigating your own care, or the care of someone you love, is yours. We help you carry it.

Meet the Founder

Stephanie Kokseng, MD, founder of Doc Envoy.

Stephanie Kokseng is a board-certified internal medicine physician based in Scottsdale, Arizona. She has spent more than fifteen years as a hospitalist, caring for patients during some of the most disorienting moments of their lives.

Through that work, she watched countless families struggle to follow what was happening. Over time, she realized that one physician could not do everything patients and families needed in a single day because the system is not designed that way. The system is designed for medical therapies. The patient load each physician carries, in the hospital or in the clinic, does not allow time for thorough review, careful explanation of split-second decisions, or lengthy updates for every family who is waiting.

She founded Doc Envoy to fill the space that time pressure leaves behind. Her aim is not to replace the work of treating physicians, but to provide what the system itself cannot: the relational time it takes to translate, listen, and orient.

Her Story & Vision

What Stephanie brings to this work:

  • Medical expertise combined with the patience and time to translate it. As a working physician, she understands both the science and the human reality of how medicine actually unfolds.
  • Systems insight from years inside hospitals. She has seen where information moves faster than families can follow, where details get lost in the handoffs between teams, and where families could participate more fully if anyone had time to explain.
  • A clear ethic about empowering patients and families. She believes that physicians who help families navigate care should be making families more capable over time, not more dependent.

Doc Envoy is her response to a structural problem: that modern medicine, under the time pressures the system imposes, rarely affords the relational time it takes to truly explain, listen, and translate. She built Doc Envoy to put that time back, on the patient and family’s side of the equation.

Who We Support

We support patients and the families beside them.

  • Patients facing new or complex diagnoses.
  • Families managing chronic or complex conditions.
  • Adults supporting aging parents.
  • Caregivers navigating hospital stays, from the bedside or from across the country.

Doc Envoy is for involved patients and families who want orientation, not rescue. They want to understand their own care and make their own decisions, with a physician helping them through the process.

You do not have to navigate this alone.

Wherever you are in your medical journey, Doc Envoy can be with you. The first step is a Discovery Call, where we listen to your situation, explain how we work, and help you decide whether we are a fit. There is no obligation to engage.
